Our motto is "We Transform-. Youth into Stars" and the Academy's purpose is to do just that; to take you the adult dancer or any child age 3 and up and give them the professional training that they would not be able to get otherwise. Why? Because the Uptown Dance Academy has an 20 year old accelerated training system that has a 90% success rate, also we have affordable rates.

Our unique training system always starts with intense body conditioning. It includes an orchestrated combination of classes that include Certified Ballet and Acrobatics as well as fusion by Ms Robin our founder. Fusion incorporates Ballet, Contemporary, jazz, modern, and Katherine Dunham technique. Our system prepares you for the stage instantly. We have performance opportunities 3 times a year in our State of the Art Productions. We have an Elite Dance Team for youth and an Adult Company that performs and competes.

ABT Certified Ballet for ages 3 & up - Consists of learning how to dance the traditional barre, vocabulary, history, dance literacy and learning the basic technical movements that enables comprehension of other dance styles.

Acrobatic Arts Certified Acrobatics Arts for all ages consists of various mat exercises for strengthening, agility, extreme flexibility, exciting jumps and tumbling skills. Trampolines and balance beams are introduced by level.

Alvin Ailey Style Horton - A modern dance form created by Lester Horton most famously seen in the choreography seen at Alvin Ailey School and Company.

Beginner Stars for ages 6-8, Intermediate Stars for ages 9 & up -Twenty minutes each of ballet, tap, and jazz, it gives the children a fantastic base and exposure to different types of dance. We have found that this “combination” technique helps to keep the kids excited, interested, and focused for the entire 60 minute period.

Contemporary/Traditional Modern - Offered for advanced students only. A combination of Horton, Graham, and liturgical technique is studied.

Hip/Hop/Jazz for all ages - Combines many styles and techniques from contemporary ballet to ethnic, hip-hop and majorette. It utilizes music from jazz, soul, R&B, and Hip-Hop music.

Twinkle Star classes for ages 3-5 -Twinkle Star Dance is an age specific 45 minute class containing ballet, tap and jazz/creative movement. The purpose of the class is to introduce young dancers to the three styles of dance and inspire movement and creativity within a positive environment. Dancers also learn basic steps and terminology in all three styles. For example, all dancers will learn what a “plié” is and how to demonstrate one. The use of fun, age appropriate music engages the young dancers’ minds and bodies. The use of props such as maracas for the “freeze dance” makes the end of class the most fun!
